DIAMTS FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is DICCS?
A: DICCS stands for Detroit International Classic Car show.

Q: When will DICCS occur?
A: DICCS will be from Aug. 14 to 16, 2012.

Q: Where will DICCS be held?
A: DICCS will be held at Cobo Center in Detroit.

Q: What is the purpose of DICCS?
A: The purpose of DICCS is:
1. To promote the unique American Automotive culture to the world,
2. To exhibit, trade and export American classic cars to the world,
3. To promote Detroit's classic car industry,
4. To help rebuild the city of Detroit and promote its economy.

Q: What is the special feature of DICCS?
A: DICCS will focus on the international promotion of Detroit classic cars: it will be the largest international classic car show in Detroit. Most classic car shows in Detroit are local events and just for exhibition. But DICCS will focus on exhibition, trading and exporting, especially exporting. DICCS will invite international customers to come to Detroit for shopping for classic cars. Classic cars are very hot in the fast growing countries like China, India and Taiwan.

Q: What is the size of the market of the classic car industry?
A: If Detroit can export 4,000 PCS classic cars a year, it will create export sales of up to $200M. Combined with the local and domestic trading and auction, the market could exceed $400M a year. It is a huge market and a very good fit for Detroit. That is why we are organizing DICCS to promote the classic car industry in Detroit. The expansion of the classic car industry will help Detroit to reduce unemployment and boost its economy.

Q: What is the cost for exhibition of a classic car?
A: For one classic car, it will just cost the owner $50 for raw space (20'x 20') for exhibition.

Q: What other costs are there?
A: The cost for move in and out and the set up cost.

Q: How much does the classic car owner need to pay for trading a classic car during the show?
A: Another $50 for trading a classic car.

Q: How much is the cost for exporting one classic car?
A: The international buyer needs to pay $1,000 service fee on top of the selling price of the classic car. The show organizer will help the classic car owner to transfer the title and export the classic car that was purchased.

Q: Beside Classic cars, what else will DICCS exhibit?
A: Beside classic cars, DICCS will also have two other shows happening at same time and in the same venue. They are Detroit AM parts show and Detroit special equipment show.

Q: What is Detroit AM Parts Show (DAPA) and Detroit Special Equipment Show (DSES) ?
A: DAPA is an exclusive AM parts show. Everything people need for the service of their car like tires, wheels, chassis parts, engines, drive shaft components, collision parts and windshield glass. DAPA will be like AAPEX in Detroit. DAPA will invite the manufacturers of AM parts to come to Detroit for the DAPA show and DAPA is positioned as a B2B show. DSES is the special equipment show and it will display all the possible special equipment and personalization items. It will be like the SEMA show in Detroit. Detroit has more than 40,000 PCS of classic cars, which means there are more than 40,000 classic car owners. 40,000 classic car owners will be a good customer base for DSES. DSES is positioned as B2B and B2C. DSES will also help all the special equipment makers in Detroit to do more exporting. Both DAPA and DSES are export driven shows. Through DICCS, DAPA and DSES, Detroit will export more Detroit made products to the world and improve its economy.

Q: How can DICCS attract people to visit the shows?
A: First, we selected the show time to coincide with the Woodward Dream Cruise (WDC). Traditionally, WDC has more than 40,000 classic cars cruising Woodward Ave. and it attracts more than 1.5 million people. We have invited 400 high fashion classic cars to display at DICCS, and with these 400 classic cars, it is expected to attract at least 50,000 people to visit DICCS, DAPA and DSES. We will also be inviting the purchasing people of AM parts chain stores like Auto Zone, NAPA and Advanced in the Detroit area and international customers from around the world. Many AM heavy weight players like Federal Mogul and Affinia will be invited to participate in the show. Buying and selling means business and business means jobs and a better economy for Detroit.
